Hazaribagh, June 9: Three Bangladeshi nationals have reportedly escaped from the Hazaribagh Detention Centre, prompting an intensive search operation by local police. The individuals, identified as Reena Khan alias Fina Devi, Akhtar Khushi, and Nazmul, had entered India illegally without valid passports and had already completed their respective sentences.

According to official records, Reena Khan was transferred from Jamtara Jail to the Hazaribagh Detention Centre on February 4, 2022, followed by Akhtar Khushi on September 28, 2024, and Nazmul on March 1, 2025. All three had been moved from different correctional facilities across Jharkhand.

Authorities believe the escape occurred either late on Friday night or in the early hours of Saturday. Initial efforts to suppress the information were unsuccessful, and once the incident came to light, police began conducting raids across various parts of Hazaribagh. The profiles and details of the absconders have been circulated to all local police stations to aid in their swift apprehension.

In the aftermath, senior district officials, including Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Shashi Prakash Singh, inspected the detention centre. The DC confirmed that a full investigation is underway and that directives have been issued to apprehend the three individuals at the earliest opportunity.
