Daltonganj, Nov 9: 56 booths have been relocated in the Palamu police zone, which comprises the districts of Latehar, Palamu, and Garhwa. These three districts are part of the first phase of polling, slated for November 13.
Incidentally, there is no relocation of any booth in the 2 assembly constituencies in Garhwa district.
However, Garhwa district will see airdrops off 8 polling parties for 8 booths in the contiguity of the Burha Pahar, which falls under the two police stations Bargar and Bhandarya Garhwa district. However, today, the limits of Bargar and Bhandarya police stations are the segments of the Daltonganj assembly constituency.
The airdropping off the polling parties will be arranged not by the Garhwa administration but by the district election officer cum deputy commissioner Palamu Shashi Ranjan.
Latehar district has 44 relocations of booths said its district election officer cum deputy commissioner Utkarsh Gupta.
Gupta further said that out of the 44 relocations, 32 are in the Manika assembly constituency alone. The Latehar assembly constituency has only a dozen relocations, added Gupta.
Palamu has this Vidhan Sabha election seen 3 fewer relocations than what it had in the months ago held lok sabha election. It was 15 in the Lok Sabha election. It is just 12 in the Vidhan Sabha election in Palamu.
The ECI has given its ‘consent’ (sahmati) to relocate as many as 178 polling stations in the first phase of the assembly election in 10 districts of Jharkhand. The 10 districts are Hazaribag, Chatra, East Singhbhum, Seraikela – Kharaswan, West Singhbhum, Khunti, Gumla, Lohardaga, Latehar and Palamu. The ECI gave its consent to the relocation only on November 6.
The ECI has directed the district election officers cum deputy commissioners of these 10 districts to ensure the voters of the relocated booths face no inconvenience and they are well informed in advance about the shifting of the booths.
A senior police officer requesting anonymity said security hazard is a major factor behind the relocation. It can’t be denied.
Jharkhand State Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar shot off this consent communication to all the 10 district election officers of the first phase on November 7.
80 (eighty) booths stand relocated in West Singhbhum, read the letter. The breakup of the relocated booths in West Singhbhum are 5 in Chaibasa, 19 in Jaganathpur, 50 in Manoharpur and 6 in Chakardharpur.
Gumla district stands third in terms of the relocation of booths. Here there is a total of 26 booths, 20 in the Bishunpur assembly constituency and 6 in the Gumla assembly constituency.
The 12 relocated booths in Palamu district are spread over like this – 4 each in Panki and Daltonganj assembly constituencies, 1 in Chhaterpur assembly constituency and 3 in Hussainabad assembly constituency.
Saraikela – Kharsawan and East Singhbhum assembly constituencies remain contented with just 1 each relocation of the booth.
Kharsawan and Ghatshila assembly constituencies of the two districts Seraikela Kharsawan and East Singhbhum have 1 relocation booth each.
Only one district in Jharkhand’s second phase polling Dumka finds 2 booths relocated in its Shikaripara assembly constituency.
The relocation of booths is highest at 178 for the first phase of voting in 10 districts while it is bare 2 (two) only in the second phase in just 1 district. End
