Jamshedpur, March 19: Unseen danger has loomed large in Adityapur and Gamharia areas in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district for the past three days, causing people to panic.
The fear of the illusive animal has increased so much that children have stopped leaving their homes, and duty-goers must maintain extra vigilance while shuttling between the workplace and homes, especially after dusk.
School declares holiday
Having apprehended the sensitivity of the situation, the management of a prominent English-medium school in Gamharia has declared sine die lest they may fall victim to the ferocious creature.

Also known as ‘tendua’ in the region, the leopard was first sighted in the Adityapur area on Sunday evening, causing a sensation among the residents. The animal remained roaming clandestinely there on Monday, too.
On Tuesday morning, the panther was found inside RSPB’s plant 1 in the Adityapur industrial area in Gamharia.
Seraikela divisional forest officer Aditya Narayan confirmed the presence of a leopard in his jurisdiction.
Task force is on job: DFO
“We cannot say where this animal came from, but it has been moving in the Adityapur and Gamharia areas for the past couple of days, ” said Aditya Narayan while talking to The Jharkhand Story.
The DFO stated that the leopard might have strayed into the human habitat from the jungle in neighbouring Odisha, adding that a task force is working around the clock to trace the animal.
