Daltonganj, March 20: The Palamu administration has cracked the whip against defiant /errant arms licensees who have not yet got their arms and ammunition verified ahead of the Lok Sabha election.

There are 1369 licensed arms holders here in Palamu, out of which 88 of them are of other districts.

These 88 were expected to get their arms verified at their respective police stations in their respective districts.

839 licensed arms holders verified

Only 839 licensed arms holders have had their arms verified, and 524 have not yet.

Palamu administration has asked these 524 to act fast and get their licensed arms verified by March 23 failing which action will be taken.

Among the 524 unverified ones, there are a couple of cases where deaths have occurred to the licensees.

Many have migrated from here with bags and baggage after selling off landed property, etc.

Lok Sabha election in 2014

Further, it is to be found if, in the last Lok Sabha election in 2014, a similar number or around of it existed where arms were unverified after the due date of the verification.

If the number is close to that of the last election’s unverified arms licenses or this Lok Sabha election’s unverified arms licenses, then it is to be concluded that the malaise is not of this election but has been dragging on since the past elections.
