Dhanbad, March 30: After completing the 3rd round, 10 players with 3 points each joined the 13th Padmabai Rungta Memorial Chess Tournament title race, which was played at SR Rungta Recreation Hall Town Club Chaibasa.

10 players maintain unbeaten record

All 10 players who maintained their unbeaten record in the tournament until the 3rd round were Basant Raj Soe, Panigrahi Dibyakant Narendra Nath Paandey, Maniddep Mukhi, Manish Sharma, Amit Kumar Singh, Anwes Mahanta Kamal Kishore Debnath, Sayam Chakraborty, and  Tanisk Kumar.

In the 2nd round, Basant Raj Soe, while playing with a black piece defeated Ashish  Nandi while  Panigrahi beat  Saren S.  Manideep Mukhi trounced Dhananjay Hansda, Kamal Kishore Debnath beat Chiranjit Sarkar, Sayam Chakraborty defeated Pawan Kumar Sharma, Amit Kumar Singh  beat Abhishek Mahto, Anwes Mahanta defeated Besaddep Thakkar, Narendra nath Pandey beat Ravi Dongo and Tanisk Kumar stopped Sasmit Tripathi.

Kenith  Mukhi ( 2.5) and 2nd top-rated player  Rajesh Kumar ( 2.5) shared points in their 3rd round match and ran jointly in 2nd place in the title race.

International arbiter

International arbiter (IA) Jayant Kumar Bhuyan, who is officiating the tournament, said that  20 boys and girls internationally rated players are participating in this championship. Panigrahi Dibyakant is the top-rated player (1846), followed by Rajesh Kumar (1843), Mandeep Mukhi (1798), Manish Sharma ( 1780), Kamal Kishore Debnath (1743) are other five highest rating participants.

DPRO Isha Khandelwal

Earlier, West Singhbhum DPRO Isha Khandelwal inaugurated the tournament organized by West Singhbhum District Chess Association. The general secretary of WSDCA, Basant Khandelwal, said 89 players are participating in this tournament.

While addressing the inaugural function, WSDCA president Mukund Rungta and patron  Nitin Prakash discussed the chess development work being done by the West Singhbhum Chess Association.

Jayadeo Chandra  Tripathi conducted the inaugural function.

Dipendra Prasad Sahu, Jahangir Alam,  Narendra  Nath Pandey Arpit Khirwal, Harsh Sharma, Subrat Chandra Tripathi, Nirmal Chandra Tripathi Rakesh Budhia, Anant Vishwakarma, Ladoo  Khirwal were also present.
