IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre today hinted at an oppressive day temperature in the next few days.

Weathermen said the maximum temperature is expected to rise to 40 degrees Celsius in the next 48 hours.

Met officials ruled out any rainfall activity in the next three days.

The maximum temperature has already crossed 39 degrees Celsius in Jamshedpur, Daltonganj and Garhwa.

The maximum temperature has crossed 35 degrees Celsius in Ranchi and its adjoining areas while the day reading has touched  38 degrees Celsius in several parts of Kolhan and other places.

The weather office also issued an alert of hot and dry wind, usually referred to as Loo, in some pockets in the next five days.

Today’s satellite pictures indicated a north-south trough running from eastern Bihar to north Bay of Bengal across Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.
