Jharkhand Weather: IMD issues heat wave alert in state on April 4-5

Jamshedpur, April 2:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert for heat wave in Jharkhand on April 4 (Thursday) and April 5 (Friday).

The forecast said heat wave conditions are likely to prevail in those two days at isolated places, especially over south-eastern parts of the state.

In Met parlance, a heat wave is declared when the maximum temperature records five notches above normal after the temperature crosses an oppressive 40 degrees Celsius.

Notably, the day’s reading has already touched 40 degrees Celsius at Jamshedpur, Godda, Deoghar, Bokaro and some places in Palamau region.

Today’s wind chart analysis and satellite pictures suggested a trough or wind discontinuity from interior Tamil Nadu to Marathwada.

The trough was running from southern Tamil Nadu to southeast Madhya Pradesh across interior Karnataka and Vidarbha at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.

A cyclonic circulation also lies over northeast Bihar at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.

Today’s Met office forecast also suggested a 2-3 degree Celsius rise in maximum temperature after the next 48 hours.
