Bhubaneswar, April 2: For the Odisha Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared the candidates for 112 of the 147 Assembly seats in Odisha on Tuesday and renominated 21 of its 22 current MLAs in the state.

Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, a legislator from Brahmagiri in the Puri district, was the only one to be denied for the BJP ticket. The ticket for the Brahmagiri Assembly seat has been given to Mohapatra’s niece, Upasana Mohapatra.

There are a total of eight female candidates.

Prominent candidates and constituencies

According to the list, incumbent Bargarh MP and senior party leader Suresh Pujari will run for the Brajarajnagar Assembly seat, while BJP state president Manmohan Samal will represent the Chandbali assembly seat in the Bhadrak district. Pujari did not receive the party ticket to run in the current Lok Sabha elections.

MLA and leader of the opposition Jaynarayan Mishra will run from his customary assembly seat in Sambalpur.

Three individuals who switched allegiance from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), namely Arabinda Dhali, Akash Das Nayak, and Priyadarshi Mishra, have been nominated as candidates by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Arabinda Dhali is set to contest from the Jayadev assembly constituency in Khurda district.

Former BJD MLA Priyadarshi Mishra will run from the Bhubaneswar North seat, while actor-turned-politician Akash Das Nayak has been awarded the ticket for the Korei Assembly region in the Jajpur district.

MLA Kusum Tete will run for the Sundargarh Assembly seat, and Biswaranjan Badajena will contest from Jatni.

The youth leader of the BJP, Tankadhar Tripathy, will be a candidate in the Assembly elections from Jharsuguda.

Jagannath Pradhan is nominated to contest from Bhubaneswar Central, Babu Singh from Bhubaneswar Ekamra, and Prithiviraj Harichandan from the Chilika Assembly seat.
