Jamshedpur, April 2: Utkal Diwas was celebrated with traditional gaiety at the premier Odiya organisation Utkal Association premises on Monday evening.
Prominent literary figure and former IAS, Ravi Narayan Nanda graced the occasion as the chief guest in the function which was attended by a large number of people belonging to the community.
Nanda who is also associate editor of ‘Samaroh,’ a leading Odiya magazine called upon the audience to keep one’s mother tongue lively and vibrant whether he or she lives in Odisha, outside the state or in abroad.

“You may groom your children in English medium schools, but you should make sure that your children must learn the basics of Odiya language. If you parents imbibe what I said this would be the perfect regard and respect for the occasion called Utkal Diwas, ” Nanda observed while addressing the gathering.
On this occasion, several dignitaries shared the dais with Ravi Narayan Nanda and expressed their view during Utkal Divash. Those spoke on the occasion include Dr Shridhar Pradhan, president, Utkal Association, prominent advocate Manoranjan Dash, Sanjay Patro, dean (Academy) XLRI, prominent writer and association’s vice-president Badal Bhuinya and association’s general secretary Tarun Kumar Mohanty.
After the discourses by the chief guest and other dignitaries, a cultural program was held followed by a community feast.
