Jharkhand Election: INDI Alliance candidate Joba Majhi files nomination from Singhbhum LS seat

Jamshedpur, April 23: A day after BJP candidate for the Singhbhum parliamentary seat Geeta Koda filed her nomination, INDI Alliance candidate Joba Majhi filed her nomination for the same seat on Tuesday, thus setting the electioneering in the Singhbhum constituency in motion.

Joba Majhi who is from the JMM was a legislator from the Manoharpur assembly segment in the Singhbhum parliamentary seat and was a minister in the Champai Soren-led Mahagathbandhan Jharkhand government.

Champai Soren, Kalpana Soren and others accompany her

Accompanying Joba Majhi during the filing of nomination includes chief minister Champai Soren, former chief minister’s wife Kalpana Soren, state health minister Banna Gupta and Rajya Sabha MP, Mahua Majhi.

Prior to filing the nomination, Joba Majhi had paid homage to her late husband Debendra Majhi at her house on Pump Road in adjoining Chakradharpur. After that she embarked on the 15-km-long journey to Chaibasa for the nomination along with her supporters from her own party and the alliance partner Congress.

Rally at Khuntkati Maidan

Having filed the nomination before the West Singhbhum deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer, Kuldeep Chaudhary, the convoy of Joba Majhi and other dignitaries reached Khuntkati Maidan beside the district collectorate where the leaders of JMM and Congress held a rally in support of the INDI Alliance candidate.

Polling for the Singhbhum Lok Sabha seat, parts of which are still influenced by Naxalism, is scheduled to be held on May 13.
