THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK
Ranchi, April 24: Yashaswini Sahay, the daughter of former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay, has been nominated to contest the Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency. A master’s in law, she is a political greenhorn. However, in an interview, she exuded confidence to reclaim the seat which her father once represented. Excerpts:
Question: BJP candidates are accusing your father of promoting nepotism!
Answer: Look, these are just deceptive propaganda designed to deflect people’s attention away from the issues of unemployment and inflation. Did Lord Sri Ram not have a family? Lord Shri Ram gladly accepted to go into exile on the orders of his father, Dasharatha. Then you will see that Mother Sita abandoned all of the comforts of Ayodhya for her family and husband and went into exile for Lord Shri Ram, i.e. her family. Was it nepotism or Sita Mata’s religious duty? In such a case, the BJP is even prosecuting Dashrath ji! Is it true that he had planned to seize his kingship from one son and transfer it to another? Is it nepotism? You should not take the BJP’s words seriously. They do not have any concerns at all. Yes, these are done to divert attention.
Question: How do you view the situation of inflation and unemployment? How will you address these challenges? What strategy do you have for overcoming these challenges?
Answer: Yes, there is a roadmap. Fortunately, I am Subodhkant Sahayji’s daughter. He has had an extensive political career. I’ll benefit from his extensive experience. As a result, I will fulfil my responsibilities as his daughter. With Subodh Kant Sahay ji’s assistance and the road map I have made, I can quickly resolve these critical issues.
Let me add that I have been lucky to become a candidate for a party with an extensive history of 150 years of service. Based on this experience, we have outlined a strategy for immediately recruiting 30 lakh government positions in our manifesto. The government posts have been vacant for the past ten years. I often think about how the young men and women here acquire jobs.

One more thing I’d like to mention: I have a law degree. I have also obtained a Master’s degree in Law. I have specialised in human rights. You can understand that I have always had a societal orientation in my thoughts. That is why I chose these subjects. I am 27 years old, and I had numerous possibilities, including working for a multinational company. But I grew up in a political climate with no topic other than social service. I grew up in a household where social services were discussed. That is why my natural inclination has always been towards social service.
And it is my good fortune that a party like Congress believes I can contribute something new to society. I am young. I have a vision for the youth. And I am convinced that I will receive blessings from the elders here. Because all of the seniors in our community have been my father’s companions and advisors. On that premise, I will undoubtedly receive his blessings.
Question: What will be your priority if you win?
Answer: Why did you use the word “if”? I am absolutely winning. I have the blessings of Jharkhand’s mothers, sisters, and father-like people who have joined me. My brothers have their hands on my head. In this case, I am undoubtedly winning.
Now let me respond to your question. My first aim will be to provide jobs to boys and girls in Jharkhand. Youth here have a strong interest in sports of all kinds. As you might have read in the Congress Party manifesto each area will have its own sports academy. I promise to implement it initially in the Ranchi Parliamentary constituency.
You would have noticed that the International Hockey Tournament was successfully organized in Ranchi. Foreign players competed in the competition. I was overjoyed and offered my gratitude to the administration and people of this place for successfully organising the event.
I shall constantly work to preserve Ranchi’s heritage. And I hope I am successful.
Let me tell you, my goal is for all rural places in the Ranchi Parliamentary Constituency to create their mark as model villages. Ranchi itself should be regarded as a metropolitan city. I’m hoping to succeed in this.
