Jharkhand: Over 1.7 lakh non-gazetted employees to protest tomorrow

Dhanbad Nov 7: Over 1.70 lakh non-gazetted employees of the Jharkhand government will demonstrate and hold a day-long dharna before the Deputy Commissioner (DC) offices in all 24 districts tomorrow in support of their 11-point charter of demands.

Announcing the agitation programmes, the general secretary of the Jharkhand State Non-Gazetted Employees Federation,  Ashok Kumar Singh, said that employees will stage a dharna before the DC office tomorrow.

“If the government does not accept demands after our November 8  protests then all 1.70 lakh non-gazetted employees would reach Ranchi on December 4 and hold a massive demonstration before the Chief Minister to make the government aware of resentment of employees,” said Singh.

He said the main demands of the Federation are a minimum of Rs 2400 grade pay to clerical grade staff of government and promotion of the fourth-grade employees on 50% of vacant posts of the third-grade employees.

Formation of common service regulations for Health Mission employees and respectable pay as per post is also demanded by them. The Federation has also demanded an extension of the retirement age to 65 years and payment of dearness allowance pending from  January 2020 to June 2021.

They further demanded an immediate amendment to the service regulations of Sahiya-Sahayika and payment with an enhanced honorarium of the central government. The Federation has also demanded recognition of Chowkidar as a government employee and regularization of their job. The employee body has also asked to stop the transfer of district association and state federation leaders under state government rules and regulations and enhancement of honorarium of rural employees working under Prime Minister Awas Yojna.

The Federation has also set up a Sangharsh Samiti for agitation under Sanjut Sahay as the president. Bharat Yadav, Devanti Devi, Manoranjan Kumar Nirala, Anup Kumar, Bamb Shankar Sharma, and Sadanand Hota are vice presidents.

The federation’s state president Manoj Kumar Sinha,  executive presidents- Madan Mohan Mishra, Amarnath Singh, Nitai Chandra Choudhary,  vice-presidents-Satyanarayan Majhi, coordinator- Girish Nandan Kumar, deputy coordinator- KD  Singh, Umesh Pandey, deputy general secretary Jitendra Singh Baraik, Amar Kishore Prasad Sinha, treasurer- Dr Dhirendra Prasad have urged the members to make tomorrow’s agitation a success.
