Ranchi, April 27: Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar has said that voter information slips have started being distributed in the Lohardaga, Khunti, Palamu, and Singhbhum Lok Sabha constituencies, which go to polls in the fourth phase on May 13.

“Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are doing this work by going door to door. If representatives of political parties also wish, they can accompany the BLOs to witness the distribution of voter slips,” he said while speaking at a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Ranchi, Dhurva on Saturday.

Info on Voter Information Slip

He said that the Voter Information Slip will contain the voter’s name, booth number and location, what the voter has to do and what not to do during voting, and the booth’s location along with Google Maps.

He said that during the distribution of voter information slips, the Election Commission will also survey how many people still need voter identity cards.

To vote, the voter must carry the Voter ID card along with this slip. If no voter ID card is present, 12 types of identity cards recognised by the Commission must be carried.

Voter information slip distribution will also be monitored to ensure this facility reaches 100 per cent of voters. For this, officials of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office will also go to the respective Lok Sabha constituencies and ensure that voter slips are distributed smoothly.

List of ASD for transparent voting

The Chief Electoral Officer said that for transparent voting, a list of ASD (Absent, Shift, Death) has also been made so that bogus voting in the names of those who are absent, have gone to another place or have passed away can be avoided.

He said that BLOs will also remain at the polling station during voting to identify the voter since he is a local correctly.

Volunteers at every booth

“People between the ages of 14 and 18 will be volunteers at all the booths. They will guide the voters and prepare themselves as skilled voters of the future. Such volunteers have been selected and given training.

Fake news under scanner

The Chief Electoral Officer said that fake news and its posts on social media are being continuously monitored. He added that if misleading news is received, action will be taken against the concerned institution or person.
