Narayanpur, April 30: In an encounter with security personnel in Abujhmad of the Narayanpur-Kanker border area in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, seven Naxals, two of whom were women, were killed.

According to a senior police official, a significant amount of firearms, ammo, and explosives, including one AK-47, were also found at the scene of the encounter.

Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) P Sundarraj provided details regarding the encounter, mentioning that a combined team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) conducted an anti-Naxal operation on Monday night. Sundarraj stated that the gunfire erupted in the forest region between Tekmeta and Kakur villages at 6:00 am today.

“Bodies of seven Maoists, including two women cadres, and a huge cache of weapons and explosives including one AK 47 were recovered from the spot”, the IG added.

He added that the process of identifying the deceased Maoists is currently ongoing, with search operations continuing.

Pakhanjur Station House Officer (SHO) Laxman Kewat, part of the leading team, disclosed that based on intelligence suggesting the presence of key Naxal figures such as Shankar, Lalita, and Rupi in the Maad area of Kanker district, along with their intention to disrupt the elections, security forces were swiftly deployed. This mobilization led to a significant breakthrough in the fight against Naxalism.
