Jamshedpur, May 3: INDI Alliance candidate, Sameer Mohanty on Friday filed nomination papers for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat in a matching pomposity, setting the contest between candidates of two leading alliances — NDA and INDI Alliance — in motion.

Accompanied by chief minister, Champai Soren, health minister Banna Gupta and state’s social welfare minister and Singhbhum INDI Alliance candidate, Joba Majhi, Sameer Mohanty submitted his nomination papers to the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner-cum-returning officer, Ananya Mittal.

Apart from the ministers, JMM legislators from Ghatsila, Potka and Jugsalai assembly segments were present on the occasion of nomination filing.

Sameer Mohanty is the sitting JMM legislator from the Baharagora assembly segment.

Earlier, the INDI alliance leaders had assembled at the Bodhi Mandir maidan — about 500 metres away from the district collectorate. At the Maidan, a meeting was held before marching towards the collectorate to file the nomination.

Addressing the meeting, the JMM leader and chief minister, Champai Soren asserted that the INDI alliance will win all the 14 parliamentary seats in the state.

The meeting was also addressed by health minister, Banna Gupta and the INDI Alliance candidate Sameer Mohanty.

It may be mentioned here that NDA candidate and sitting MP, Vidyut Baran Mahto had filed his nomination for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat on April 30.
