Ranchi, May 7: Congress star campaigner Rahul Gandhi today hit out at the media, saying they show Modi, Adani and Ambani throughout the day, but not Adivasis.

Addressing an election rally in Gumla, Rahul said media people do not talk about tribals. “They are not yours (tribals). Ambani’s wedding is visible throughout the day, tribals are nowhere to be seen,” he said.

The Congress has fielded Kalicharan Munda in Khunti to challenge Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda and Sukhdev Bhagat in Lohardaga to take on BJP’s Sameer Oraon. Both the seats are reserved for tribals, so Rahul Gandhi talked mainly about Adivasis during his speech.

CM Champai Soren also present

Chief Minister Champai Soren, Kalpana Soren, Congress leaders Rajesh Thakur and Bandhu Tirkey were also present on the occasion.

Unsparing in his attack on the media, Rahul pointed out that not a single national-level journalist is a tribal. There is no tribal heading a company, he added.

‘No word on Modi when he waives capitalists’ loan’

“The media did not say a single word when Modi waived the loan of 22 billionaires. But when we talk about loan waivers, they say that they want to spoil the habits of the poor; if we give wages under MNREGA, then they say that they are spoiling the habits of the poor. These are theirs (capitalists), not yours (tribals),” he said.

Raining allegations on the media, the Congress leader said photos of Modi are visible for 24 hours but they (the media) will not show if anything happens to the tribals.

Harping on his old allegation, the Congress leader said the ongoing Lok Sabha election is aimed at saving the country’s Constitution, which, he claimed, the BJP wants to change.

‘Pehli Naukri Pakki’: Rahul

Rahul said if voted to power, the Congress will launch the ‘Pehli Naukri Pakki’ scheme, aimed at empowering the youth by providing them with one-year apprenticeships in companies, followed by assured employment opportunities. Under this initiative, participants will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 8,500 during the training period, totalling to Rs 1 lakh over a year.

He also promised to transfer Rs 8,500 per month into the accounts of women to make them “lakhpati”.
