Jamshedpur, October 12: Morning fog and mist are likely to persist across Jharkhand over the next few days, even as isolated parts of the state remain under the possibility of light to moderate rain and thundershowers, according to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD forecast for Monday, October 12, indicates partly cloudy skies, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely at isolated places in the north-western region, excluding Garhwa, adjoining central Jharkhand, including Hazaribagh, and the south-eastern parts of the state. Fog or mist is also expected during the morning hours.
Showers Likely in Parts of Jharkhand on October 13
Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail on Tuesday, October 13, with isolated spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers forecast over the north-western and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand, including Hazaribagh.
The weather is expected to become relatively dry thereafter, although morning fog or mist may continue.
On Wednesday, October 14, fog or mist is likely during the early hours, followed by partly cloudy skies. On Thursday, October 15, morning fog or mist is again forecast, with mainly clear skies expected later in the day.
The changing weather pattern suggests a gradual transition towards drier conditions, although localised rainfall may continue in some areas over the next two days.
Monsoon Withdrawal Advances Across Eastern India
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon continues to withdraw from the country. The IMD said meteorological conditions are becoming favourable for its further withdrawal from additional parts of eastern India and the northern peninsula, as well as several parts of northeast India, during the next two days.
The current withdrawal line passes through Supaul, Ranchi, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Bijapur, Hyderabad, Belagavi and Panjim, among other locations.
Cyclonic Circulation May Influence Local Weather
An upper-air cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and its neighbourhood continues to persist, extending between 1.5 km and 3.1 km above mean sea level.
The system may influence local weather conditions, keeping the possibility of isolated showers alive in parts of Jharkhand even as the southwest monsoon withdraws.
Residents can expect misty mornings and changing cloud conditions over the coming days, with the likelihood of rainfall gradually easing as the state moves further into the post-monsoon season.
