Jamshedpur, Nov 9: A 38-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly selling “brown sugar” at Adityapur Muslim Bustee in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Thursday.
While arresting the accused, identified as Nazmun Nisha, the police recovered 230 packets of narcotic drugs from her possession.
Revealing about the breakthrough, Seraikela-Kharsawan district SP, Vimal Kumar said that the arrest was made following a tip-off that a middle-aged woman was selling narcotic drugs from her house at Ahmed Galli in the infamous Adityapur Muslim Bustee which is now in the focus of the district police.
“On being interrogated, the arrested woman divulged that a smuggler identified as Mogla had supplied the brown sugar by coming over to the Adityapur Muslim Bustee. We have established the whereabouts of Mogla who is a resident of the Lalgota area in Murshidabad district of Bengal. We are going to arrest Mogla soon,” said Kumar while addressing a press conference at Adityapur today.
The SP said they have resolved to make the Adityapur Muslim Bustee a drugs-free area by carrying out intensive raids.
It may be mentioned here that a 50-year-old woman, Doly Perveen, who is a notorious drug dealer was recently shot at and injured by her nephew at the Adityapur Muslim Bustee.
Doly who is known as the kingpin in the drugs racket in Adityapur and also in the adjacent steel city had returned from jail after she had been arrested for drugs smuggling in July 2020. Presently she is undergoing treatment for her gunshot injuries in the RIMS.
