Ranchi, May 22: Following reports of bird flu infections in a poultry farm in Ranchi, the Jharkhand government issued an alert on Wednesday, an official stated.

The official stated that the Ram Krishna Ashram-run poultry farm, Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, in Morabadi, slaughtered up to 920 birds due to the presence of flu, of which 770 were ducks.

He added that 4,300 eggs in all had also been destroyed.

The official further stated that samples sent to the ICAR-National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD) in Bhopal tested positive for the avian influenza A virus H5N1.
