Jamshedpur, May 25: Several isolated parts of Jharkhand are expected to witness thundershowers and lightning accompanied by gusty wind, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
The Met office has issued an alert of thundershower activity in isolated pockets today and tomorrow.
Today, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 40-50 kmph) are likely to take place at isolated places over north-eastern, southern and central parts of the state.
The maximum temperature is expected to be within normal limits. According to predictions, the day’s reading would remain below 40 degrees Celsius in most places today.
Satellite pictures suggested that a trough from southeast Rajasthan to eastern Vidarbha was running from the existing cyclonic circulation over southeast Rajasthan to Chhattisgarh across Madhya Pradesh at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.

Most places in Jharkhand today woke up to bright weather. Patches of high clouds were also found in some places.
The discomfort index is expected to remain beyond normal limits in several districts of southern, central and north- western Jharkhand today.
Monsoon Update
Southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Maldives and Comorin area, south Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andaman Sea and some parts of east-central Bay of Bengal.
Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon over some more parts of the South Bay of Bengal, Central Bay of Bengal and some parts of Northeast Bay of Bengal during the next two days.
