Ranchi, May 30: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) today held an awareness programme on de-addiction at Gossner College, Ranchi.

Laws against drug abuse

Addressing the programme, which was held at the directive of the JHALSA, LADC advocate Rajesh Kumar Sinha gave information about the crimes related to the trading of opium, ganja, heroin, brown sugar and cultivation of opium under the Drugs and Psychotropic Substances-1985 and told the students about the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940. Apart from this, focus was laid on NDPS, NCB and Article 47 of the Constitution.

Drug addiction is a curse

Mediator P.N. Singh said that drug addiction is a curse for all of us, which is common in our society. “Due to a lack of good education, people become victims of drug addiction and other physical consequences at an early age and remain addicted to drugs throughout their lives. De-addiction means freeing a person or society from addiction. It is an attempt to prevent drug addiction or remove its addiction,” he said.

Effects of drug addiction

Atul Gera of Life Savers NGO also shed light on drug elimination and explained in detail the effects of drug addiction. He said that a person remains healthy by not taking drugs.
