Dhanbad Nov 10: Jharkhand State Congress vice-president Brajendra Prasad Singh has demanded a CBI probe into coal theft in Dhanbad from the central government.
Brajendra Prasad Singh has said that the BJP MP and MLAs had on Thursday alleged that coal worth Rs 50,000 crore has been theft in Dhanbad. If it has been done then Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) must tell where it was looted, he added.
Singh, who is also the chairman of the Congress State Disciplinary Committee, has asked the BCCL CMD whether the Rs 50,000 crore coal loot is in his cognizance and asked him to disclose how much coal was theft from which collieries, and what action he has taken in this regard so far,
“It is a million dollar question that the central government spends several hundred crores rupees on CISF for protection of coal. Despite that coal is being theft. The coal department comes under the Central government. It must disclose what action the central government has taken over it. The Coal Minister had recently visited Dhanbad but he did not speak a word on the coal theft in Bharat Coking Coal Limited,” said Singh.
The Congress state vice-president also said that opposition parties allege coal theft to defame the Jharkhand government. He urged the coal minister to order a CBI probe into the coal theft and take action against the officials of Bharat Coking Coal Limited.
