Dhanbad, June 3: Upbeat with getting 100 MBBS and postgraduate (PG) seats, government-owned 55-year-old Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad launched its new but impressive logo of the institution.

While launching the new logo on the occasion of the Graduation Ceremony, principal Dr Jyoti Ranjan Prasad said the logo had been old enough and was difficult to upload into the software.  “So, a new logo of the institution has been launched,” he added.

SNMMCH also added a feather to its cap by holding the first time in 55 years the ‘Graduation Ceremony’  for the students. 2018 batch students of the institution were on the occasion felicitated and presented certificates, mementoes, caps and others.

Principal and HoDs inaugurate the ceremony

The graduation ceremony is generally held only at institutions of national repute. In Jharkhand, SNMMCH thus became the 1st medical college to start this tradition. Till 2017, RIMS Ranchi used to hold this programme differently but after COVID-19, it has been not held.

MGMMCH Jamshedpur, which is older than SNMMCH, does not hold while Palamu, Hazaribagh and Dumka medical colleges are yet to give graduates.

“Your hard labour has paid dividends. Now you are a registered doctor and can practice in any corner of the country. I wish the best of luck to you in future endeavours,” said principal Dr Prasad told students.
