Jharkhand LS Elections: BJP maintains winning track on Dhanbad seat

Ranchi, June 4: The BJP maintained its winning track on the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat for the 4th successive term as its candidate Dhulu Mahto defeated Anupama Singh of the Congress by 3,30,065 votes in a straight contest.

Dhulu Mahto was polled 7,82,423 votes while Congress candidate Anupama Singh got 4,52,358 votes.  There were 25 candidates, including a transgender on the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat in which the other 23 candidates lost their deposit.

Three-time Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto was this time  (2024 election) given a ticket in place of three-time sitting MP  (2009, 2014, 2019) PN  Singh and he (Dhulu Mahto) stood on the faith of the party by retaining the seat.

Though a tough battle was expected on the card as candidates of both the national parties (BJP and Congress) had put their all strength, Dhulu Mahto took the lead of 7172 votes in the first round and continued increasing his lead till the 25th and final round of counting.

After BJP candidate Dhulu Mahto (782423) and  Congress candidate Anupama Singh (452358),  Md  Iklakh Ansari got 3rd highest votes  (78885) on the seat followed by Jagdish Rawani of Marxist Co-ordination Committee (MCC) (27,498) and independent candidate Janak Shah Gond (12759).
