Dhanbad, June 4: 1st transgender candidate Sunaina Kinner who tested political water first time got fewer votes than NOTA (None Of The Above) on the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat.
Independent candidate Sunaina Kinner, who was the centre of the attraction on the Dhanbad seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha election for challenging heavy-weight candidates from national and regional parties was polled 3430 votes while 7202 votes cast in favour of NOTA after the completion of the 25th and final round.
There were 25 candidates in Dhanbad, including BJP, and Congress in which Sunaina Kinner was not a lone candidate who had to lick the dust from NOTA. Other 19 independent candidates, including Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) also got fewer votes than NOTA.

Only five candidates-winner BJP’s Dhulu Mahto (782423), Congress Party’s Anupama Singh (452358), independent Md Iklakh Ansari (78885), Jagdish Rawani (27498) of Marxist Co-ordination Committee (MCC) and independent candidate Janak Shah Gond (12759) got more than NOTA votes.
“I don’t care how many votes I got in the election but I feel proud people support me and my mission for which I entered in political field,” said Sunaina to media persons. She further added that her mission was to wake up political party leaders about unemployment, water and the poor.
