Jamshedpur, June 11:  The worst is yet to come.

IMD today issued an alert of a severe heat wave in most parts of Jharkhand during the next 72 hours.

A heat wave is declared when the maximum temperature crosses six to seven degrees Celsius above normal.

According to the forecast, today’s severe heat wave condition will likely prevail at isolated places in Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Deoghar, Godda, Jamtara and Dumka districts.

Heat wave conditions would also prevail at isolated places of Latehar, Lohardaga, Hazaribag, Koderma, Giridih, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, West Singhbhum, Gumla, East-Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.

Tomorrow and the day after ( June 13)  severe heat wave conditions will prevail at isolated places of Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Deoghar, Godda, Jamtara and Dumka districts of the state.

Thunderstorms and lightning alert

An alert of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 30-40 kmph) is also likely at isolated places over north-eastern, central and southern parts of the state on June 13, Thursday.

Monsoon Update

Southwest monsoon has advanced into some more parts of the north Arabian Sea and some more parts of Maharashtra.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon was passing through Dahanu, Nasik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nizamabad, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram and Islampur.

Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon into more parts of the north Arabian Sea, Some parts of South Gujarat and some more parts of

Maharashtra during the next two days.

Synoptic Features

An east-west trough stretched from northwest Bihar to Nagaland across Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and south Assam at 0.9 Km above the mean sea level.
