Bhubaneshwar, June 12: Mohan Charan Majhi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Odisha’s first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government on Wednesday at the oath-taking ceremony held at Janata Maidan in the state capital Bhubaneshwar.
In addition to Majhi, two deputy Chief Ministers, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida also took the oath of office. Pravati Parida made history by becoming the first female deputy chief minister of the state.
Governor Raghubar Das administered the oath of office to the first BJP Chief Minister of Odisha, along with the deputy Chief Ministers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present on the occasion.
Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Naveen Patnaik who held the position of Odisha’s chief minister for 24 years, was also in attendance on the stage.

Eight leaders sworn in as Cabinet ministers
Additionally, eight cabinet ministers and five ministers of state (independent charge) were also sworn in today.
In the cabinet led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in Odisha, Suresh Pujari, Rabinarayan Naik, Nityananda Gond, Krushna Chandra Patra, Prithiviraj Harichandan, Mukesh Mahaling, Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, and Krushna Chandra Mohapatra took their oaths as Cabinet ministers.

The event also witnessed the attendance of several notable leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Nitin Gadkari.
Additionally, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were among the esteemed guests who graced the occasion in Bhubaneswar.
