Dhanbad, June 24: Over 81,000 Vidyalaya Rasoiyas (cooks) of the state are gearing up for a stir to get 7-point long pending government-accepted demands’ implemented.

Jharkhand Rajya Vidyalaya Rasoiya Sangh secretary Manoj Kumar Kushwaha claimed that Chief Minister Champai Soren had assured to implement the agreement after lifting of Model Code of Conduct (Lok Sabha elections). But even after so many days of elections, the government is sitting on file leaving no option to Rasoiya but to go on an agitation path.

“Former education minister late Jagarnath Mahto had signed an agreement with Sangh for implementation of 7 points demands.  After his death when Chief Minister Hemant Soren took charge of the education department, he promised to execute that, but before he initiated the step he went to jail. The Sangh’s delegation met new chief minister Champai Soren and he agreed to implement it after elections. In this condition 81,000 Rasoiyas have no option but to start agitation”, said Manoj Kumar Kushwaha.

Sangh has also protested removal of  Rasoiya in Gooda and other districts of state and announced that district-wise gherao of DSE and other officials if sacking order is not withdrawn. Sangh alleged that principals of schools are removing  Rasoiyas before 60 years of age and appointing new on their places after taking Rs 1 lakh.

The main demands of  Rasoiya Sangh are appointment letters,  Rs  55,00 honorarium, dress code,  accident insurance and others. At present Rasoiyas are paid an honorarium of Rs 2,000 (per student 25 paise). “It is concerning that Rasoiya are working since 2004 notwithstanding they have not been given basic facilities”, said Kushwaha.

Gooda district unit of Sangh which has the highest 6600 members, is spearheading the agitation for implementation of the agreement.
