HPCL and Behtar Jharkhand organise scholarship drive in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, June 24: Behtar Jharkhand, a Dhanbad-based NGO in collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) conducted a scholarship drive for students of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) at the local Gurunanak College today.

The convener of the programme Mayur Shekhar Jha said that a total of 200 students across the state will be selected under the scheme and each student will be paid  Rs 6000 per annum.

“Initiative of this scholarship is aimed at bridging the financial gap for underprivileged students and enabling them to pursue higher education and achieve their academic goals”, said Jha.

Principal of Gurunanak College, Dr Sanjay Prasad while highly appreciating the step of Behtar Jharkhand and HPCL said that this initiative will provide much-needed financial support to deserving students, allowing them to focus on their studies and reach their full potential. “It is a noble cause taken up by Behtar Jharkhand.” he said.

Students fill up form for the scholarship

He said this scholarship program is a testament to Behtar Jharkhand’s unwavering commitment to improving the educational landscape of Jharkhand. By collaborating with HPCL, Behtar Jharkhand is paving the way for a brighter future for deserving students from marginalized communities.

Mayur Shekhar Jha, founder of Behtar Jharkhand said that the organization is grateful to Gurunanak College for joining hands with us in this scholarship drive. Together, we can create a brighter future for Jharkhand’s youth by empowering them through education.”

A help desk was set up on the college premises to assist students in filling up the application forms and answering any questions they might have. Suraj Kumar, Maqsood Ansari, Ajay Kumar, Bhaskar Suman, Nikhil Anand, Sunil Gupta, Suraj Rajak, Chandan Kumar and Ravindra Ram the volunteers of Better Jharkhand were members of the help desk.
