IIT ISM guides 6 technical institutes of State on NBA accreditation process

Dhanbad, June 28: IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad on Friday guided 33 faculty members of six technical institutes of the state on how to prepare for the NBA accreditation process.

The members of the faculty are from CIT Ranchi; RTC Institute of Technology Ranchi; University College of Engineering & Technology (UCET) Hazaribagh; Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology, Sikkim; Government Polytechnic Koderma and Pakur Polytechnic, Pakur.

IIT ISM faculty members under  Prof Vikash Mahto, Department of Petroleum Engineering, taught the participants the NBA accreditation process, the application filing process, Self-Assessment Report (SAR) preparation and submission, evaluation guidelines and evaluation reports.

The training was organized under the Margdarshan Scheme approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for enhancing their quality across all domains.

On the occasion, Prof Sukumar Mishra, director IIT (ISM) who was the chief guest, threw light on the technicalities of the documentation process, including SAR preparation.

“If there is any lack of coherence between the submitted data and facts found during the visit then a lot of questions will arise,” said Prof Mishra. He cautioned the participants against any incoherence in the SAR and facts which may lead to negative impact.

Prof Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director of IIT (ISM)  while addressing informed that IIT (ISM) has earlier served as a mentor institute for other institutes including state-owned BIT Sindri under the phase 2 and phase 3 of the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP).

“Working together we all will bring a new culture and our expert team of faculty members will help you in developing labs and teaching learning material as part of the mentoring process,” said Prof Kumar.

Prof Vikash Mahto, chief coordinator of the Margdarshan Scheme at IIT (ISM) said, that a team of coordinators including, Prof Rajeev Kumar Ranjan (Electronics Engineering), Prof Vivek Bajpai (Mechanical Engineering), Prof Dondapati Gopi Krishna (Mining Engineering), Prof Mohammed Siddiqui (Petroleum Engineering) and Prof DV Bhaskar (Electrical Engineering) will help the six institutes prepare their SAR.
