Jharkhand Weather: Normal monsoon activity brings down rain deficit to 52%

Jamshedpur, July 4: The good spell of rain during the past 48 hours brought down Jharkhand’s rain deficit to 52 per cent.

According to statistics, against a normal of 216 mm rain Jharkhand has so far actually received 103 mm, a deficit of 52%.

However, despite a good shower show still all the 24 districts were confronting deficit rain.

The rainfall activity during the past couple of days brought down the day’s temperature three to four notches below normal.

The maximum temperature has gone below 30 degrees Celsius in most districts.

Satellite pictures suggested that a trough from northwest Bihar to south Assam was currently running from northeast Madhya Pradesh to Manipur across north Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.

Light to moderate rainfall was observed at most places over the state during the past 48 hours; while heavy rainfall was also recorded at isolated places of the state.

Monsoon activity was normal over the state.

The highest rainfall of 111.2 mm was recorded at Maithon (Dhanbad).

According to the IMD forecast, today heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over north-eastern and adjoining central parts of the state.
