Durg, July 15: The police reported on Monday that an Odisha police officer and a truck driver were arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district for allegedly possessing cannabis worth Rs 2 lakh.
An official stated that following a tip-off, a police team intercepted a truck on Kumhari-Ahiwara Road within the Kumhari police station area on Sunday and found 20 kg of contraband concealed in the driver’s cabin.
He stated that Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravindra Bhukta (50) and truck driver Gagan Anand Mehar (42), both from Cuttack, Odisha, were arrested.

The official said that the two arrested accused told the police they had brought the consignment from Odisha to Bhilai city for the purpose of selling it and the vehicle and mobile phones of the accused were confiscated.
The official said that a case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and an investigation is ongoing to uncover an inter-state drug trafficking network.
