Jamshedpur, July 16: Tuhin Sinha, BJP’s national spokesperson, has voiced serious concerns about the increasing presence of ‘Bangladeshi infiltrators’ and the resultant demographic changes in the Santhal Pargana region. Sinha alleged that the Hemant Soren-led JMM-Congress government is marginalizing the tribal population in the area.

Sinha referenced a directive from the Jharkhand High Court, which mandates the state government to promptly identify the infiltrators and develop a comprehensive plan for their deportation.

Sinha accuses Jharkhand govt of facilitating settlement of infiltrators

He emphasized the urgency of the situation, pointing to a troubling decline in the tribal population and a significant rise in the Muslim population within Santhal Pargana. Sinha described these demographic trends as a “warning signal” that demands immediate attention.

“Santhal Pargana holds historical significance as the birthplace of the tribal revolt led by Sidhu Kanhu 170 years ago, a fight for tribal rights against the British. Today, the tribals face a new threat, not from colonial rulers, but from ‘Bangladeshi infiltrators’ who are being settled in the region under the vested interests of the JMM-Congress government,” Sinha asserted.

The BJP spokesperson criticized the state government for allegedly facilitating the settlement of these infiltrators, thus jeopardizing the social and cultural fabric of the tribal communities. He accused the government of deliberate negligence and called for an immediate end to what he described as its misrule.

Time to deport infiltrators to safeguard rights of tribals: Sinha

Sinha highlighted the historical significance of Santhal Pargana, drawing parallels between the current demographic challenges and the region’s storied past. He stressed that the government must take decisive action to protect the rights and livelihoods of the tribal population, which he believes are under severe threat.

Sinha’s remarks come amidst growing political tension in Jharkhand, where issues of illegal immigration and demographic changes have become hot-button topics. The BJP’s stance underscores its commitment to addressing these concerns, particularly in regions with substantial tribal populations.

The spokesperson concluded by urging the state government to heed the High Court’s directive and take swift, effective measures to identify and deport the infiltrators. “It is time to put an end to the misrule of the State Government and safeguard the rights of our tribal brothers and sisters,” Sinha declared.

The BJP’s strong stance on this issue is expected to resonate with its base, particularly in tribal-dominated areas, as the party continues to campaign for stricter immigration controls and the protection of indigenous populations.
