Daltonganj, July 25: Sub-divisional hospital Hussainabad in Jharkhand has proved a saviour in distress in snake bite episodes for victims of snake bites in Bihar too.

According to Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar, a woman of village Kanchan Baandh which is in Bihar but near Jharkhand’s Hussainabad was bitten by a poisonous snake and was rushed to the sub-divisional hospital Hussainabad where she had a 5-vial drip of a combo pack of anti-venom serum.

The civil surgeon said the woman was frothing. Her family then shifted her back to the MMCH Daltonganj where she was treated for snake bite.

Dr Anil Kumar said, “It was not so easy to locate her as she was shifted from the sub-divisional hospital Hussainabad by her family without telling the doctor there. I contacted the Sahiya who broke the news as to where this snake bite lady victim has been moved in. I had to do a lot of tracking for her. It’s good she is recovering.”

On a single day, four snake bite cases were handled at the sub-divisional hospital Hussainabad.

The number of snake bite cases has gone up to 100 in Palamu.

Dr Anil Kumar said the state government has provided us with a sufficient number of anti-venom serum vials.

He said, “We request people to visit the hospital first when there is a snake bite. Never go to any ‘jar phoonk wala’. It may finish your life. We have a full course of medication for you to survive a snake bite.”
