Dhanbad, August 5: A 25-member Dhanbad district squad (men’s and women’s) has been announced for the 13th Jharkhand State Athletics Championship scheduled to be held in Bokaro district from August 13-14.

Selection trial was held on Sunday

Giving this information, Bandhan Toppo, general secretary of the Dhanbad District Athletics Association (DDAA), said 15 athletes for men’s and 10 athletes for women’s have been selected for different events based on their performance in a day trial held on Sunday.

‘Selection was done in the presence of the association’s senior office bearers and former senior national/ international athletes to put up a strong squad in the state championship,” said General Secretary Bandhan Toppo.

The Association had set up standard parameters for selection. Those athletes who qualified for the parameter were selected.

Men’s Team

Sandeep Saw, Rohit Kumar Yadav, Pappu Bharti, Sandeep Ghosh, Roshan Yadav, Kishore Kumar, Vivek Kumar Singh, Sachin Choudhary, Sujit Kumar Mahto, Vijay Ray, Motilal Mahto, Amrudpal Singh, Vivek Kumar Ray, Indranil Banerjee, Bhagirath Mahto, Sachin Mahto and Sunil Mahto.

Women’s squad

Jyoti Kumari, Resham Tikka, Silk Shahin, Rabbo Kumari, Garima Kumari, Asha Kumari, Tanu Kumari, Kajal Thakur, Arpita Mahto, Khusboo Kumari,

Association officials said that 150 men’s and women’s athletes participated in the trial.

On the occasion, Kran Rani Nayak, Zubair Alam, Tarak Nath Das Shyam Narayan, SM Gupta, Md Farid, Nitesh Paswan, Rana Pratap Singh, Sunil Mishra, Jayant Bhagat, Sujash Thakur, PN Banerjee, Lakhan Pal, Bhupendra Kumar Ray, Shivbarat Mandal, Binod Raut, Sarfraj Khan, Rahul Mishra, Krishna Pado Mahto Sujit Gorai, Sujapa Thakur, Jaya Pramanik and Joli Sarkar were officials and technical members of the selection process.
