New Delhi, August 6: Amid the coup in Bangladesh, the central government convened an all-party meeting on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, as well as opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.
External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar briefed the members of various political parties on the current situation.
Jaishankar stated that India has assured assistance to Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and has given her time to determine future strategies.
The sudden resignation of Prime Minister Hasina and her departure from the country amid violent anti-reservation protests in Bangladesh has led to a chaotic situation. Hasina arrived in India on Monday evening aboard a Bangladesh Air Force C-130J military aircraft. It is reported that she plans to travel to London.

India in contact with Bangladesh military to ensure safety of over 10,000 Indian students
While informing the leaders of political parties about the current situation in Bangladesh at the Parliament House, Jaishankar said that India is in contact with the Bangladeshi military to ensure the safety of over 10,000 Indian students present in the neighbouring country.
Apart from BJP, leaders of Congress, TMC, JDU, SP, DMK, RJD also attended the meeting.
Jaishankar also praised the parties for their unanimous support. On the social media platform X, Jaishankar shared photos from the meeting held at the Parliament House.
The Foreign Minister wrote, “Briefed an All-Party meeting in Parliament today about the ongoing developments in Bangladesh. Appreciate the unanimous support and understanding that was extended.”
