New Delhi, Nov 17: The Election Commission of India reported a voter turnout of 60.52 per cent as of 3 pm in the ongoing elections for 230 assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh on Friday.
Up to 1:00 pm, Madhya Pradesh registered a 45.40 per cent voter turnout.
According to the Election Commission, Agar Malwa in Madhya Pradesh registered a voter turnout of 69.96 per cent, while Alirajpur recorded 50.66 per cent as of 3 pm.
Anuppur recorded a voter turnout of 62.47 per cent, Betul saw 63.66 per cent, the capital city Bhopal had a turnout of 45.34 per cent, and Chhindwara, the constituency of former Chief Minister and Congress candidate Kamal Nath, registered a voter turnout of 67.09 per cent.
Damoh witnessed a voter turnout of 64.83 per cent, Datia recorded 58.34 per cent, Guna had a turnout of 63.10 per cent, and in Indore, the voter turnout was 54.89 per cent by 3 pm.
On Friday at 7 am, the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly single-phase polling started.
Webcasting is operational at approximately 42,000 polling stations, with around 700 units of central forces and two lakh state police personnel deployed to ensure security during the election.
The outcome of the election will determine the political future of more than 2,500 candidates. Approximately 5.59 crore voters, comprising 2.87 crore men and 2.71 crore women, are eligible to participate in the voting process.
Madhya Pradesh is conducting voting for all 230 seats in a single phase, and the tallying of votes, along with four other states, is scheduled for December 3.
