Dhanbad, Aug 9: Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) in collaboration with Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti, New Delhi, distributed 40 assistive devices among identified Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at Malkera Community Centre.

In this regard, the SABAL Project of TSF organized a day camp at Malkera Community Centre in the Baghmara block of the district.

Vikash Kumar, chief of Sijua Group of Tata Steel Jharia Division inaugurated the event and highly praised Tata Steel Foundation for executing and encouraging projects like SABAL, which reaches all sections of society, even in remote locations.

An official said in the camp total of 40 assistive devices, including artificial limbs (hands and feet), pairs of crutches and wheelchairs for both adults and children, were distributed to all the identified PwDs.

On the occasion, Shweta Mishra, head, administration, Piyush Kumar, senior area manager Sijua Group, Dr Ankit Prakash, senior registrar Bhelatand Feeder Hospital, Mehmood Alam, secretary  ( Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMU) Bhelatand Colliery, Nayan Chand Mahato, president RCMU Bhelatand Colliery, Bipin Singh Choudhary, manager, community development TSF Sijua, Dr Bibekanand Patra, medical officer TSF, Girirsh Mahato, Central Advisory Committee Member, Vinod Rajak, Mukhiya Malkera South Panchayat, Laxmi Kumari, Team Sabal and Team BMVSS, New Delhi were also present.

The official said Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) operates across 33 Panchayats in the Baghmara block, under its flagship project SABAL.  It helps in identifying persons with disabilities (PwD),  accessing disability certificates, to providing them with needs-based training in various fields.  TSF aims to transform and empower persons with disabilities.
