Dhaka, August 10: Amidst the changing political developments, protests started again in Bangladesh on Saturday. According to reports, the protesters surrounded the Supreme Court in Dhaka. Most of the protesters are students, they warned all the judges including the Chief Justice to resign within by 1pm.

Hundreds of protesters gathered in front of the Supreme Court building in Dhaka, demanding the resignation of seven judges including the Chief Justice. The protesters were sitting on a dharna and made it clear that they will continue this movement until their demands are met.

It is reported that the Chief Justice has resigned due to the increasing pressure of the protesters. Bangladesh Army personnel have been deployed to the court premises.

Sources indicate that Bangladesh’s Chief Justice, Obaidul Hasan, decided to resign from his position as head of the judiciary due to the protests. He tendered his resignation after consulting with President Mohammad Shahabuddin. Hasan, who was appointed Chief Justice of Bangladesh last year, is also considered close to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
