Jamshedpur, August 17: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light to moderate rain at most places across Jharkhand today.
The Met centre also did not rule out the possibility of heavy rain in isolated areas today.
Satellite pictures suggested that the low pressure area persists over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 4.5 Km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.

It is likely to move north-northwestwards during the next two days and become a well-marked low-pressure area over Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal.
Thereafter, it is likely to move west-northwestwards, across Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and adjoining areas during the subsequent three days.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Phalodi, Banasthali, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Ranchi and the centre of low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal, adjoining West Bengal and Bangladesh extending up to 0.9 Km above mean sea level.
