Jamshedpur, August 22:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre today predicted heavy showers in one or two places in north-eastern Jharkhand.

A low-pressure area over north Bangladesh & neighbourhood persisted over the same region today.

An associated cyclonic circulation was extending up to 9.6 Km above mean sea level.

It is likely to move nearly westwards across West Bengal during the next 48 hours.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was passing through Sri Ganganagar, Rohtak, Orai, Dehri, Purulia, centre of low-pressure area over north Bangladesh and neighbourhood and thence to east-southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.

Another cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and its neighbourhood prevails at 0.9 Km above mean sea level.

Notably, rainfall activity over Jharkhand in August so far has been quite impressive.

The widespread and heavy rainfall helped in bringing down the rain deficit to 15 per cent as of date, which is as good as normal.

Against a normal of 721 mm, the state has actually received 614 mm of rain.
