Jamshedpur, Aug 26:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of widespread rainfall activity over Jharkhand today.

Weathermen also did not rule out the possibility of heavy rain in isolated areas of north-eastern and central Jharkhand today.

The low-pressure area over northwest Jharkhand moved westwards and lay as well marked low-pressure area over southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh.

An associated cyclonic circulation was extending up to 7.6 Km above mean sea level. It is likely to continue to move nearly westwards and intensify into a depression over west Madhya Pradesh.

Another cyclonic circulation over north Bay of Bengal lies between 3.1 and 5.8 km above mean sea level.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region during next 24 hours.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Khajuraho, centre of low-pressure area over southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh, Ranchi, Contai and thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal.

An east-west trough runs from the above low-pressure area over the southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh to northeast Bay of Bengal extending up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level.

Meanwhile, Met statistics revealed that the rainfall deficit of the state dropped to 11 per cent.

Against a normal of 751.4 mm, the state as a whole has so far actually received 669.5 mm of rain.
