Dhanbad, Aug 26: In a significant development, the Jharkhand chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has officially integrated AIIMS Deoghar into the Medical Students Network (MSN) by establishing the organization within the institute.

IMA Jharkhand President Dr A.K. Singh announced that, following directives from the IMA national body, MSN chapters have now been constituted in all medical colleges across Jharkhand, including AIIMS Deoghar.

Since its inception in 2019, AIIMS Deoghar students and doctors have not participated in the joint activities of the state’s six other medical colleges or directly engaged with the Indian Medical Association. However, this is the first time that the IMA has successfully brought them into the state’s mainstream medical community through the MSN.

Dr A.K. Singh noted that the IMA had been actively seeking members from AIIMS Deoghar to join the MSN. The formation of the MSN chapter there was catalysed during the protests following an incident in Kolkata, where some members stepped forward.

“The Junior Doctors Association already existed in all medical colleges but the MSN is a separate wing and it will help in dealing with problems of MBBS students at the local level, on the spot and immediately,” he said.
