Beat patrolling system in Adityapur

The Seraikela-Kharsawan SP, Mukesh Lunayat had on Monday introduced a beat patrolling system in the Adityapur thana area given the rising incidents of firing, theft, burglary and drug peddling.

It may be mentioned here that the incidents of theft and burglary are rampant in Adityapur. Even the road leading to the Adityapur thana from Sher-e-Punjab Chowk is not safe for the commuters as incidents of vehicle-lifting are regular.

Lunayat who had earned a reputation as an able IPS officer during his stint in Jamshedpur as City SP chose Adityapur thana area for introducing the beat patrolling system as a pilot project.

The Seraikela-Kharsawan SP has divided the Adityapur thana area into eight beats and assigned sub-inspectors as in-charge of each beat.

The idea behind introducing the system is to assign the police officers in the ranks of sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors to remain vigilant in their respective beats and to act with alacrity to respond in the event of any distress call.
