Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed that the government will allocate around Rs 28,602 crore for these initiatives. He noted that the industrial smart cities have a potential investment value of Rs 1.5 lakh crore and are projected to generate 10 lakh direct jobs and 30 lakh indirect jobs.

The 12 cities

The cities where 12 industrial smart cities are set to be developed include Khurpia in Uttarakhand, Rajpura-Patiala in Punjab, Dighi in Maharashtra, Palakkad in Kerala, Agra and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, Gaya in Bihar, Zaheerabad in Telangana, Orvakal and Kopparthi in Andhra Pradesh, and Jodhpur and Pali in Rajasthan.

Jharkhand included in new rail infrastructure projects

The Cabinet has approved three major railway infrastructure projects, spanning a total of 296 kilometers and costing approximately Rs 6,456 crore.

These initiatives are set to improve rail connectivity substantially and are anticipated to boost regional development, especially in areas such as Nuapada in Odisha and East Singhbhum in Jharkhand.
