Drawing competition to honour Palamu artist ‘Naiyyar Sir’

Daltonganj, September 29: A drawing competition will be organised in memory of renowned Palamu artist and art mentor S.M. Naiyyar Jamal, with the Masoom Art Group hosting the event in association with the Chief Minister’s Girls’ Excellence School (KG School).

Members of the organising committee met Palamu Deputy Commissioner Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat on Tuesday to discuss the event. The Deputy Commissioner agreed to attend the competition as the chief guest and said it was the collective responsibility of the people to preserve the memory of distinguished personalities who had contributed to the district.

According to convener Raj Prateek Pal and co-convener Shahzada Talib, the competition will be held on Sunday, October 11, from 10 am to 11 am at the KG School auditorium. The prize distribution ceremony will follow from 11 am to 12 noon.

The competition will have three categories — Classes 1 to 6, Classes 7 to 10 and an open-age category. The theme for all categories will be ‘Nari Shakti’.

Cash Prizes, Trophies and Certificates

Winners in each category will receive ₹5,000 for first place, ₹3,000 for second place and ₹2,000 for third place, along with a ₹500 consolation prize. Winners will also receive trophies and certificates, while all other participants will be given certificates of participation.

The organising committee includes Sumit Bhattacharya, Vikas Kumar Pappu and Sonali Biswas as judges, while Vinod Pandey, Prem Bhasin and Naveen Sahay are mentors. Avinash Dev is the patron, Saikat Chattopadhyay is associated with the concept and Sanjit Prajapati is the director.

Raj Prateek Pal is the convener, with Shahzada Talib and Adarsh Pandey as co-conveners. Other members are handling finance, reception, social media, venue, certificates, transport and competition-related responsibilities.
