Dhanbad, Aug 29: The IEEE BIT Sindri student chapter, in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering Department of the institute, organized a seminar on ‘Energy Research and Sustainability.’
Insights from Dr. SK Ramesh
Dr. SK Ramesh, an IEEE Fellow and senior professor in the Computer Engineering Department at California State University, Northridge, was the chief speaker at the seminar. Experts and research scholars from around the globe also participated in the seminar virtually.
In his virtual address, Dr. Ramesh highlighted the significance of energy research and sustainability. He emphasized the need for innovation in energy generation, distribution, and consumption.
Dr. Ramesh shared insights into ongoing research at California State University, Northridge, and said that the main motto is to make students active in energy research.
“Energy research has a major role in facing global challenges and this can be done by encouraging permanent energy customs”, he said.

Departmental insights
Dr. Md Abul Kalam, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, explained that the seminar aimed to identify sustainable energy practices and address global challenges. He said that aim of this seminar was to identify permanent energy customs for its uses and facing global challenges.
“BIT Sindri’s Electrical Engineering Department is dedicated to promoting research and innovation in the field of energy,” said Dr. Kalam.
Expert panel discussion
The seminar included a panel discussion featuring experts and senior faculty members from BIT Sindri who shared their experience on energy sustainability and research.
Professors Matta Mani Shankar, Praveen Kumar, Dipesh Kumar, Sanjay Pal, DB Mishra, HC Verma, and others discussed advancements in energy research and the associated challenges.
The experts commended the seminar’s outcome, noting that it provided a valuable platform for researchers, industry professionals, and students to exchange experiences and critical information.

Research papers submitted
Several research papers were presented during the seminar.
Session coordinator Dr. Amit Kumar Choudhary outlined the seminar’s goals and emphasized the importance of collaborative research. He also highlighted the need to address climate change impacts and promote economic flexibility.
