New Delhi, Nov 21: In connection with an alleged excise policy scam, the Rouse Avenue court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia until December 11.

Following a comprehensive hearing of the case, the court observed that the Enforcement Directorate has not yet filed numerous documents related to the accused individuals.

At the same time, the court voiced discontent with the legal representatives for not promptly concluding the Section 207 compliance of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and urged them to expedite the process to initiate the trial swiftly.

The CBI arrested Sisodia in February 2023 over alleged improprieties in the development and execution of Delhi’s revised excise policy. Since then, he has been in custody. Following his questioning in Tihar Jail on March 9, the ED arrested Sisodia in connection with the money laundering case arising from the CBI FIR.

As per the CBI, Sisodia played a crucial and central role in the criminal conspiracy, actively participating in both the development and execution of the mentioned policy to fulfil the objectives of the conspiracy.

The Opposition’s accusations of malpractice prompted the withdrawal of the policy.

On the other hand, the court also served notice to the ED and scheduled a hearing for November 24 to consider Benoy Babu’s interim bail plea.

In November of last year, the ED arrested Binoy, who was employed as a general manager for a liquor company.
