Union agriculture minister Shivraj Chouhan holds meeting with farmer leaders

New Delhi, Sept 24: Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday held a meeting with leaders of various farmer organisations in New Delhi.

At the meeting held at the Pusa Campus, Chouhan emphasized the value of open dialogue while addressing key issues such as import-export regulations, dumping duties, and other matters concerning farmers’ interests.

After the meeting, Chouhan conveyed that agriculture is essential to the nation, with farmers being its core. He emphasized that aiding farmers is as significant as performing a sacred duty and a form of worship.

During the meeting with farmer association leaders, he said they offered numerous recommendations, which are now under consideration. The suggestions cover a range of topics including crop management, the Fasal Bima Yojana, and addressing crop losses.

Chouhan asked farmers to share their feedback and pledged to address their concerns. He assured that all received suggestions would be promptly reviewed and acted upon, emphasizing a commitment to making necessary improvements based on the input provided.

To promote open communication, Chouhan introduced the initiative of holding weekly meetings with farmer organizations to address sector-related issues.
