SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Oct 4: Over 76,000 Anganwadi Sevikas and Sahayikas in the state are set to launch an indefinite strike starting tomorrow to demand the implementation of their long-pending eight-point demands.

Devanti Devi, general secretary of the Jharkhand Rajya Samaj Kalyan Anganwadi Karmchari Sangh (JRSKAKS), which represents the 76,000 Sevikas and Sahayikas, stated that, due to the lack of seriousness from officials in the Department of Women, Child Development, and Social Security regarding their demands, the Sevikas and Sahayikas have no choice but to proceed with the indefinite strike beginning Saturday, October 5.

Torchlight processions

Before this decision, the Sevikas and Sahayikas held torchlight processions in various districts on October 2 to draw the department’s attention to their long-standing demands.

JRSKAKS patron Ashok Kumar Singh ‘Nayan’ emphasized that all demands are valid and require immediate attention. However, the indifferent attitude of the officials has fueled the anger of the Sevika and Sahayika, leading them to resort to agitation.

Demand to amend service manual

The eight-point demands of the Sevikas and Sahayikas include amendments to the service manual, honorarium enhancement, job regularization, status equal to government employees, pension and promotion, and payment for mobile services and nutrition at market rates, among others.
